SCANALYST™ Lite Screen

The top 90% of the SCANALYST™ Lite screen is the viewing window for your scan data with the familiar Windows "elevator" on the right. The bottom portion has your controls for setting your communications, saving the information to disk, printing to any Windows compatible printer, etc.

Communications

You may set the Comm port you have your verifier connected to from the "Comm Port" drop down menu. Once you have selected your port, push the "Connect" button to instruct SCANALYST™ Lite to initiate communication with that port.

The "Comm Port Status" window displays the current status of the port SCANALYST™ Lite is communicating with.

Command Buttons

The "Clear" button will erase the data currently in the viewing window. A warning window will appear asking to you confirm the delete before actually clearing the data.

The "Print" button opens the familiar Windows print window so you may send the scan data to any Windows compatible printer you have connected to your PC.

The "Save" button allows you to select the drive, directory, and file name where you wish to save your scan data for future reference.

"Help" opens the SCANALYST™ Lite onboard help text file. The "About SCANALYST Lite" button opens the SCANALYST™ Lite boot-up screen containing the button for accessing current/more detailed information on features, new versions, etc., by connecting to the AIS web site (requires you to have access to the Internet).

Direct Data Input

Whenever the verifier has the PC RS-232 interface cable plugged in, it assumes you are connected to your serial port and any scans will automatically be passed to the port. Be sure you have SCANALYST™ Lite running and your communications port connected (see Communications, above) before scanning any codes.

    1. With connection to your COM port established, scan a bar code with your verifier. Data will immediately appear in the SCANALYST™ Lite viewing window.
    2. Save the data to file and/or print it to your printer.

Delayed Input

To store scan information to the verifier’s buffer for remote data collection and subsequent uploading to your PC, just unplug the RS-232 cable from the back of your verifier. The buffer will hold anywhere from 50 to 500 data scans, dependent on which verifier model you have and the settings you establish (full or summary data).

Uploading Remotely Collected Data To Your PC

    1. If not already running, start SCANALYST™ Lite.
    2. Select the appropriate communications port and press the "Connect" button.
    3. With the power on your verifier off, plug the PC RS-232 interface cable into the back of your verifier. When you press the power button, the verifier will automatically recognize there is data in its buffer and wait for your instructions on whether or not to print it.
    4. Select "Print Bufr" (QC 150/200) or "Print" (QC 600/800) and the data will immediately transfer to the SCANALYST™ Lite screen.
    5. Save the data to file and/or print it to your printer.

WARNING: Make sure you have SCANALYST™ Lite running and you have connected the communication port before you tell the verifier to print its buffer.
If you discover you are not connected after you tell the verifier to send the data, you may be able to stop the transfer by quickly turning off the verifier (hold down the Power button); however, some loss of data may occur.

.

SCANALYST™ Lite is a simple utility for users of verifiers. The scanned data is unprotected, does not include scan profile information and is stored to a text file, which, unfortunately, is editable. It cannot be traced to or identified with a specific instrument, date or time. In an ISO/QS or healthcare environment, it is advisable to have data sources better controlled, all devices calibrated and data input identified by user, time, date and location. If you are interested in a BCQMS with these capabilities, we invite you to review our SCANALYST™ and SCANALYST Xchange™ Bar Code Quality Management Systems.
